There are tons of great places to find inspiration for stories—some of the places and things Luna gets inspiration from are below:

🌍 Real Life & Observation

  • People-watching in cafĂ©s, airports, malls, events, or parks—Luna likes to imagine what their lives are like, how their day is going, or maybe even what they did that day.

  • News headlines – Luna enjoys twisting real events into fictional ones. Why not make some of the depressing things you heard on the news have a happy ending?

  • Personal experiences – Luna’s memories, dreams, or “what if” moments. So many life experiences, loss, grief, but also many great experiences as well.

  • Overheard conversations – Have you ever just sat quietly listening to the conversations of other? A single sentence can spark an entire plot.

📚 Other Media

  • Books, movies, podcasts, TV shows – not to copy, but to remix ideas or flip perspectives. Learning how others engage their audience is helpful.

  • Mythology, folklore, and fairy tales – Luna loves to take mythological people, places, and things, to a whole new level in her stories. Especially giving a classic story a modern spin.

đź’ Writing Prompts & Tools

  • Reddit: subs like r/WritingPrompts or r/nosleep for eerie vibes.

  • AI tools: Ask for a random story starter, plot twist, or first line. Never use these in their entirety. Use them for guidance but create your own.

  • Pinterest or Mood boards – Searching Pinterest for story ideas is a great way to gather thoughts, and create boards to keep them organized.

  • Story dice or cards – Luna has pulled some ideas from tarot and oracle cards.

🌙 Dreams & Stream of Consciousness

  • Journaling: Luna loves freewriting, and doing so for even 10 minutes can dig up hidden gems.

  • Dream journals: some of the most surreal stories come from half-remembered dreams.

🧠 Exercises

  • Ask:

    • What if…? (e.g., What if no one could lie for a day?)

    • What happens next? after a scene in a show/book.

    • How would someone react if…?
